Habitat for Humanity Family Fundraiser

The event took place from 5-8 p.m. at Goodwill Park and featured lawn games, bouncy castles, and food (including ice cream from T.C. Scoops). According to the Metrowest Habitat for Humanity website, the organization is a non-governmental group that works with communities to provide housing that is affordable for families that lack the means to purchase it on their own. It is completely volunteer based. The Holliston branch has existed for two years and has around 30 members on their community.
All of the proceeds from the event are going towards the construction of homes on plots on 68 and 72 Chamberlain St. donated by the Holliston Housing Trust to the organization for two deserving families. Liz Kelly is a member of the Holliston branch. She said that one of the houses is almost finished and the second has the framing and roof completed. Each house will have three bedrooms and 1 1/2 baths.

"We already have two families that have been chosen. One is a local family and one is from out of town. Both of those families work several hundred hours of work, including putting money towards a small mortage, to make this happen."
Kelly said that the group is very close to reaching their $450k goal for the project. Acccording to the project's webpage, both houses should be completed by the summer of 2018. Thanks to Kelly for her huge and tireless efforts to raise money for Habitat and provide a wonderful event for our Holliston community. There were smiles all around.
