Surprise at Pinecrest Golf Club

Today there was quite a surprise & a first at Pinecrest Golf Club! I began my day planting at Pinecrest and was surprisingly entertained for several hours by a Mariachi Band called the Mariachi Estrellas de Boston.  Everyone seemed to enjoy the Mariachi Band on the course -  yes on the courseThe only thing more Mexican than tequila is the mariachi.  It is the sum of a cultural revolution expressed through a group of musicians, dressed in popular clothing  called charro suits. An experience not to be missed and there it was on Pinecrest Golf Course today! I can safely say it was a first! They were at the first hole & then rode around the course on golf carts entertaining the golfers at the other holes! A tournament not to be missed!

The word mariachi refers to the musicians now commonly seen in restaurants or strolling the streets, with wide brimmed hats playing a variety of instruments or entertaining at special events but a golf tournament actually on the course during play?

The golfers seemed to enjoy the entertainment and I certainly worked a lot faster, with their lively music, filling 17 planters with flowers! Mariachi music is played around the world in places as far away as Japan and Europe. And as close as Pinecrest Golf Club!

I caught a little of the band on the first tee:
