The women of the Holliston Democratic Town Committee are hosting their third Champagne and Chocolate Women’s Event. The garden party style event is scheduled for Saturday, June 10 at 3 p.m. at the home of Ellen George, 62 Persis Place, Holliston.

The event, sub-titled “We Marched. Now What?“  seeks to bring progressive women together to talk about moving forward following the November 2016 election. Since then, women have been “woke” or jolted into political activism. Thousands of Massachusetts women marched on January 21 in Boston and throughout the state. Numerous activist groups have sprung up to push back against the current administration. According to Holliston DTC Chair Lisa Kaplan, “This event is always so much fun, but this year it will really be a place where these various groups of women can come together, network, and learn about organizing to elect progressive women to office.”

Guest speaker for the afternoon will be Ryanne Olsen, Executive Director of Emerge Massachusetts. Emerge works to tackle the problems exhibited by the under-representation of women in government. The premier training program for Democratic women, Emerge inspires women to run for office and helps them network and hone their skills to win, to increase the number of Democratic women in public office.

According to Olsen, the number of Massachusetts women inspired to run for office  has increased so much since November that Emerge has doubled the number of students they accepted into their 2017 class.

Advance tickets for the event are recommended and can be purchased for $20/person online at hdtc.yapsody.com or from Lisa Kaplan at 508-208-5491 or hollistondems@verizon.net. A very limited number of tickets may be available at the door for $25/person.  This event is open to the public.
