Democrats in Holliston will caucus to elect delegates to the 2017 Massachusetts Democratic Convention. The caucus will take place Saturday, March 11 at 10:00 am in the Selectmen’s Room (Room 105) at Town Hall, 703 Washington Street.

Doors will open for registration at 9:45 a.m. and close promptly at 10:15. The caucus is open to the public and press, but only Holliston registered Democrats are eligible to participate in the voting. Delegates must be present at the caucus to be elected (except persons serving in the U.S. Armed Forces).

Holliston Democrats will vote to elect nine delegates and four alternate delegates to represent them at the convention. Those not elected as a delegate or alternate and who meet the qualifications can apply to be an add-on delegate in the following categories: youth, minority or disabled.

Holliston DTC Chair Megan O’Brien said, “Becoming a delegate to the convention is a great way to interact with other Democrats from around the state, hear from party leaders and government officials, and engage in discussions on issues they care about. ” She went on to encourage all Holliston Democrats to consider participating in the caucus.

“People are excited about politics and want to make a difference. Our caucuses are a great opportunity for those who are interested to get involved,” commented Massachusetts Democratic Party Chair Gus Bickford. “Delegates will be voting on our party platform in Lowell, and we want to make sure that every Democrat has a voice. This is a time to come together and speak to our shared Democratic values.”

This year’s Massachusetts Democratic Convention will take place Saturday, June 3 at the Tsongas Center on the UMass Lowell campus.
