HOLLISTON POLICE DEPARTMENT PUBLIC SERVICE AWARDS

Mr. Chris Leoncini

Holliston Superette

777 Washington Street

Holliston, MA 01746

Dear Chris,

On behalf of the Holliston Police Department we are honored to bestow onto you our Public Service Award for the actions you took when your business was robbed on July 27th of this year. At great risk to yourself you physically attempted to both stop the commission of the crime and to wrestle a pistol away from the assailant. Because of your valiant efforts the suspect was impeded in completing his escape either on foot or by vehicle. He quickly went into hiding in close proximity to your store, and eventually he was flushed out and apprehended by the many officers that had responded to the call.

Typically it is never suggested that a citizen intervene to halt a crime in progress, but with the understanding that you had much more at stake in this instance, and taking into account that your actions in all likelihood contributed to a swift capture and arrest, we, along with the residents of this town, are both proud of your actions and grateful of your taking the initiative to play a crucial part in the safety of our residents.

Respectfully Awarded to You,

Chief John J. Moore

Dear Janet,

It is with tremendous gratitude that I extend the entire department’s sincere appreciation for your twenty-one years of service to the Holliston Police Department and the Town of Holliston. During your time with our organization you served as a matron (21 years) and crossing guard (9 Years), and you were trained in sexual assault investigations, child abuse interventions, and you completed the course of study at the Reserve Police Academy. You consistently showed serious dedication to all tasks you were assigned, and you were the consummate professional with all who you interacted with during your many years of service.

Janet, your devotion to the Holliston Police is a perfect example of civic commitment, and as such, it is with great pleasure that I award you with the Holliston Police Department’s Public Service Award. This is a richly deserved honor that you earned through years of selfless commitment to an organization and a mission that truly benefits all the people of this town.

Respectfully Awarded to You,

Chief John J. Moore
