Sergeant George Leurini

RE:  POLICE COMMENDATION (Armed Robbery with Suspect Arrested)

Upon the recommendations of Lieutenants Dave Gatchell and Craig Denman, which I wholeheartedly agree and endorse, I am pleased to announce that you are hereby honored with our Department’s Police Commendation Award for your involvement in the search and apprehension of an armed robbery suspect on the day of July 27, 2016. This incident was by all accounts a high risk call with significant danger to responding officers and the many citizens in the area at that time of day. After being one of the first officers on scene and then actively searching the area, you were able to locate and flush out the suspect from a heavy brush area along the edge of a brook, which then led to a short foot chase and eventual arrest. Your actions were done at great risk to your personal safety, they are truly commendable, and this town is measurably safer and more secure due to your presence.

Thank you for upholding the high standards of this organization, and please know that your actions are duly noted, tremendously respected, and publicly recognized for their contribution to public safety.

Respectfully Awarded to You,

Chief John J. Moore

You and K9 Cesh responded to while off-duty. Your mission was to locate the pistol that the suspect was seen carrying during the chase. After a short search K9 Cesh was able to locate an air soft pistol within a pile of pallets in an enclosed rubbish and refuse area. Although it was a relief to all that the suspect had been arrested, it was a cause of great concern that a weapon may be hidden in an area that could be accessed by an accomplice, or possibly by an unsuspecting resident or child that could be harmed by it. Your and Cesh’s quick and professional search and recovery alleviated that fear.

Thank you for upholding the high standards of this organization, and please know that your actions are duly noted, tremendously respected, and publically recognized for their contribution to public safety.

Respectfully Awarded to You,

Chief John J. Moore

Dispatch Supervisor Kasey Richards

RE:  LETTER OF MERIT (Armed Robbery with Suspect Arrested)

Upon the strong recommendations of Lieutenants Dave Gatchell and Craig Denman, to which I fully agree and endorse, we hereby award you the Holliston Police Department’s Letter of Merit for your actions as the dispatcher on the day of July 27, 2016. At approximately 9:00am you received the first of many 911 calls reporting an armed robbery in progress at the Holliston Superette. In the next twenty minutes you expertly coordinated the communications of a law enforcement response that included five departments and a total of twenty-seven officers. In addition you alone took dozens of phone calls that ranged from possible witnesses to residents and business people who were in fear of what was going on in the downtown area. When all was said and done you missed no calls, all matters were addressed, and the officers on scene were able to concentrate on the search and apprehension of the suspect with real time descriptions and information being received from you at the dispatch center.

Your knowledge, experience, and efficiency under the most stressful of conditions was on display that morning. Officers in the field rightfully and thankfully trusted in the information that you were constantly supplying, and you did not let them down.

Thank you for upholding the ideals and mission of this organization, and please be assured that your efforts are duly recognized by this department and the Town of Holliston.

Respectfully Awarded to You,

Chief John J. Moore
