KRUPNICK, Harvey "Coach K" 71, of Hopkinton, MA passed away on May 26, 2016 at Hope Health McCarthy Care Center in Sandwich, MA. He was the son of the late Mildred (Zack) and Samuel Krupnick of Athol, MA and Margate, FL. Harvey graduated from Athol High School in 1962 and was vice president of his class, later assuming duties as president. He was an outstanding athlete in high school receiving letters in all three sports, baseball, football and basketball. He also received the Athol High School Most Outstanding Athlete - Danny McDonald Award. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Adrian College in 1966. He was drafted by the Detroit Tigers and played in Florida before returning to the University of Michigan to complete a Master's Degree Program in Physical Education. During his first year of teaching at Holliston High School he was drafted into the Army and served overseas in Thailand during the Viet Nam war. He returned to Holliston and completed 36 years of teaching physical education and adaptive physical education to all age levels. In addition he was the coach of the Holliston High School baseball team for 39 years. Among his accomplishments are in 1983, he was the Boston Globe Division II Coach of the year and also Metro-West News Coach of the year; in 1986, he was captain of the Adrian College baseball team and was inducted into Adrian College's Hall of Fame; in 1992, he received the National High School Master Coach Award selected by Easton Bat Company & Collegiate Baseball; in 2001, Major League Baseball International Envoy Coach in South Africa; 1994 - inducted into Boston Park League's Hall of Fame. Harvey started the first baseball hitting school in the country and coached hundreds of players over the years. Harvey leaves a daughter Samantha of Arlington, MA., and a brother Arthur of Centerville, MA. and Margate, FL. The funeral will be held on Sunday, May 29, at 10:30 AM at Stanetsky Funeral Home 1668 Beacon St., BROOKLINE with internment following at Kaminker Cemetery, Baker St., W. Roxbury, MA. Shiva will be observed privately.
