Annual Town Meeting starts May 9th at 7:30 p.m. and runs for ... nights.

Some say this meeting will take two nights; others say three.

Longer sessions come as a result of bigger issues, and there are a few issues that are likely to attract some earnest debate this year.

Downtown traffic lights
Disposal of Andrews School
Decontaminating Flagg School
Zoning articles
Capital purchases
Water projects
Oh, and a $62 million budget!!

But wait, there's more…

If you want a good preview of what is on the warrant (agenda) for the Meeting, you can listen to or watch Mary Greendale interview Town Administrator Jeff Ritter on “Just Thinking” taped by HCAT TV(Holliston Cable Access Television). It’s online at http://click.icptrack.com/icp/relay.php?r=11671097&msgid=219108&act=CKM6&c=1290067&destination=http%3A%2F%2Fhcat.viebit.com%2Fvod%2F%3Fv%3DbdVBVr7xOaxy%26s%3Dfalse.

On television, you can see the show at 3:00 and 8:00 p.m. Tuesdays (Verizon 32 and Comcast 8) or at other times as posted on the HCAT schedule.

The full warrant and Finance Committee Report and Recommendations will be available on the Town’s website beforehand.

Forewarned is forearmed. Holliston Reporter and HCAT TV (the media) have done their parts to inform the public. The rest is up to the voters. Are you satisfied having 100 random people decide these issues?

Please think about this:

Town Meeting is THE government of Holliston. It is where all the decisions are made – not by Selectmen or Planning Board members or even the Town Administrator. This is REAL democracy. We the voters ARE the elected officials of this town – purely by being registered voters.

Attend Town Meeting May 9th – and following nights depending on how long discussion goes.

Vote in the May 24th election.

Be part of the solution.

Selectmen - Please don't put the downtown traffic lights at the end of the agenda. Thank you!
