The Holliston Conservation Associates held its annual Earth Day celebrations at the Daniels Conservation Area on Saturday April 9th with a roadside cleanup followed by their famous Vernal Pool Walk with naturalist Marc Connelly.

Associates Gordon Maxfield and Dick Morse consult.

Associates Mary Curran and Donna Cohen make the effort to clean up the brush.

Results of the clean-up – not too bad for this year.

. Marc Connelly, naturalist, addresses a crowd of 20 people.

Wood frog eggs – little tadpoles are in the green gel.

Looking for critters in not exactly warm water.

. Log cabin caddis fly – the fly is named for the home it builds from tiny twigs.

Special guest – a redbacked salamander, found under a rock and common to the area.
