Missing Person Incident – Body Recovered

On March 24, 2016 at approximately 6:08 pm the Holliston Police were requested by the Framingham Police to search the area in the vicinity of 194 Lowland Street for a 59 year old female resident of Framingham by the name of Theresa Sorensen. Family members of Ms. Sorensen had reported that she had missed an appointment and a job interview on that day and they were concerned. Based upon this initial information the Framingham Police had “pinged” the cell phone of Ms. Sorensen to the before mentioned address. The search of the area proved unsuccessful. Holliston Officers did however continue the search in the general area.
At 7:52pm a family friend who had been searching for Ms. Sorensen located her vehicle in the parking area of what is known as the Pleasure Point shoreline of Lake Winthrop. Upon this discovery the Holliston Police directed all personnel to search all areas contiguous to the lake. In addition, resources and personnel were requested and utilized from the Holliston Fire Department Water Search and Rescue Team, the Natick Police K9 Unit, Medway Police ATV Unit, and Holliston Police’s K9 Unit (Sergeant Matt Stone and K9 Cesh). The Massachusetts State Police Air Wing was also requested but unable to respond due to the weather conditions. The search was continued on the midnight shift (12am-8am) with no results.
At 8:55am, while Police and Fire Personnel were searching the area, the Holliston Water Search and Rescue Team located what appeared to be a female body approximately 35 feet from the Pleasure Point shoreline in 6 feet of water.
Upon the finding of the body the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office, the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit, the Massachusetts State Police Crime Scene Services Unit, and the Massachusetts Medical Examiner were contacted and requested to respond. The body was removed from the water, and eventually positively identified as Ms. Theresa Sorensen. The Medical Examiner took custody of the body.
Notification was made to the next of kin of Ms. Sorensen by the Massachusetts State Police and the Framingham Police Department.
At this time there are no indications of foul play. This matter does remain under investigation by the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office and the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit.
