Democrats in Holliston will hold a caucus to elect delegates to the Massachusetts Democratic Party’s 2016 Convention to adopt a new Action Agenda. “This is going to be an exciting year as we Massachusetts Democrats work on the presidential election, both here in Massachusetts and across the country,” said Democratic National Committee Woman Kate Donaghue. “In addition to the normal proceedings, the June convention is going to focus on party building, electoral techniques, and issue-based organizing.”

The caucus will meet on Saturday, March 12th at 10:00 am in the Selectmen’s Room (Room 105) at Town Hall, 703 Washington Street. Registration starts at 9:45 am, and the doors will close promptly at 10:15 am. The caucus is open to the public and press, but only Holliston registered Democrats (as of January 31, 2016) are eligible to participate in the voting. Delegates must be present at the caucus to be elected (except persons serving in the U.S. Armed Forces).

The Holliston Democratic Town Committee (DTC) will vote to elect eight delegates and three alternate delegates to represent them at the convention. The DTC chair attends ex officio. Those not elected as a delegate or alternate and who meet the qualifications can apply to be an add-on delegate in the following categories: youth, minority, or disabled.

Holliston DTC Chair Megan O’Brien said, “Becoming a delegate is a great way for people to participate on issues they care about.” She went on to encourage all Holliston Democrats to consider participating in next month’s caucus.

This year’s convention will take place Saturday, June 4th at the Tsongas Arena, 300 Arcand Drive, Lowell, MA.
