Habitat for Humanity at Celebrate Holliston

Mr. Todd Barber, a Holliston resident, is heading a newly formed neighborhood group in the Holliston area to help Habitat for Humanity MetroWest/Greater Worcester build two homes on Lot 2 A and 2 B on Chamberlain Street in Holliston adjacent to Chamberlain Pines.  Like all of our current builds, the two single family homes are Energy Star 3 homes that are LEED certified.  The design, style and materials for these homes will allow the future homeowners to seamlessly integrate into their new neighborhood.

Mr. Barber and his group have already made inroads into the community by asking friends, family, and businesses for support.  With help from the staff at Habitat for Humanity MetroWest/Greater Worcester, Todd has been spreading the word about "You Caring," a crowd funding site where people will be able to donate on-line to help the Holliston build’s cause.  This is a grass roots effort to help Habitat for Humanity MetroWest/Greater Worcester build two homes in Holliston for deserving families.

As part of their initiative, Mr. Barber and his group plan to attend “Celebrate Holliston” on September 19th with handouts and information about the Holliston homes and Habitat for Humanity MetroWest/Greater Worcester.

Habitat for Humanity builds houses with people in need and then sells the houses to homeowner partners through 0% interest mortgages. Homes are built generously through volunteer labor and donated goods allowing them to be sold at affordable rates based on income. These homes are sold to families living within 30 and 60% of the area median Income who are willing and able to become homeowners, partner with habitat, and provided 400-500 hours of “sweat equity” working on their homes, or another Habitat project. Our program is designed to provide housing options to those who do not qualify for conventional mortgages, while providing support systems to help families help themselves.   We offer families a hand up – not a hand out.
