Write-in Candidate Suzanne Nersessian for Finance Committee

Dear Holliston Friends and Neighbors,

I am running as a write-in candidate for one of the two open spots on the Finance Committee and would love to have your vote on Tuesday on Election Day.

I have lived in Holliston for almost 10 years with my husband and two children. Our kids are deeply involved in town sports and Scouts and I coach field hockey and was a Girl Scout leader for 6 years.  I also have been involved with the Holliston Newcomers Club as a board memberincluding being the Treasurer.

I have been thinking about running for a town board for a while as a way of giving back to this community that has given us so much. Recently, I was moved to speak at town meeting, as I sought to ask some questions about a financial matter. After I left the meeting, I decided it was the right time to run for Finance Committee.

I believe in transparency, clarity, and timeliness in considering financial matters, so there can be a clear understanding of the information being presented. In order for the town to effectively be able to make decisions it is important to communicate early and in various means around the specifics of what is being considered.  I recognize there are many ways in how material is presented and would look for additional approaches to help expand the opportunities for the community to be well-informed, especially on the financial topics that we ultimately need to vote on.

Just to give a little bit of background on my professional experience, I am a CPA and have spent 25+ years in public accounting at one of the Big 4 accounting firms.  I started my career in the audit practice, which included auditing governmental accounts.  I moved into our advisory practice in 2001, focusing heavily on controls and providing advice and recommendations to clients on financial and control-related issues.  I am now in our national risk practice, where I spend a lot of time managing enterprise risk, providing alternatives to teams for consideration, and negotiating to achieve cohesive, best-case solutions.

Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions for me before Tuesday on my background, qualifications or candidacy.  I appreciate your consideration in voting for me for Finance Committee.

All best,

Suzanne Nersessian
