If the votes were tallied as of noon April 20th, both articles would have failed; but the actual votes don’t come until Town Meeting, May 4th AND the Town Election on May 19th. The articles must pass BOTH votes.

So this is the new way to sell public expenditures to us? Are we in a slick car dealer's showroom, with the whole "It's only $350 per month" line? I know people get spooked by the price tag of $6.2 million, but please give us both figures. And on the average house ($388,000) what are the taxes? I know and extra $140 isn't going to break most of us, but that's the point, to try to coach it in terms of affordability.

progressive tax on real estate? Yes, lets tax those that already pay the bulk of the taxes even more so they move somewhere else. Do people with higher value homes get better education and policing? Why would they pay a different rate? How about everyone pay their share if they want these improvements.

Will be an interesting town meeting. We have to vote on funding these two projects, and on the proposal to extend health benefits for widowers/families of our public servants, correct?? All this with the knowledge of a significant water bill increase.

A tie in to another recent article - maybe we should have a progressive real estate tax based on property value?
